The Assistant Director for Strategic Communications and Marketing at the UNC School of Social Work, Matthew Smith earned his master’s degree from the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media in 2017 and his undergraduate degree in Mass Communication from UNC Pembroke in 2010. He previously worked in higher education for six years with East Carolina University’s Office of Research, Economic Development and Engagement and the Chancellor’s Office News Services before joining UNC. He currently lives in Holly Springs, N.C., with his wife, Jordan, and twin 7-year-old stepchildren.
